FINE GRADE FOREMAN/FINISH OPERATOR
Griffin Contracting, Inc., has an opening for an experienced Grade Foreman/Finish Operator for roadway construction. Ideal candidate has GA and/or SC DOT experience, is hands on and can operate equipment. Travel required.

Able to Fine Grade With Minimal Passes To within Tolerances
Ability to organize and manage 2-3 person crews for variety of jobs ranging from commercial erosion control and earthwork activities
Must be willing to travel as required by project
Be responsible for field and crew, equipment operation and complete daily paperwork
Candidate will be expected to be detail oriented and manage safety, logistics and multiple tasks in a face-paced environment
Lead field operations to monitor and improve crew productions and understand goals
Communicate professionally and effectively with all personnel
Assist project management in ensuring that all work meets specifications
Maintains accurate reporting of materials used and time reporting of crew members
Must have operational experience with heavy equipment to communicate equipment limits and designed purposes
Must be accountable for equipment safety, maintenance and operation
Ability to work independently and in a team environment while effectively managing time
Host daily safety meetings with team
Maintains safe, clean job site, vehicles and orderly work
Ensures proper installation and maintenance of temporary erosion and sediment control devices
Able to perform site wide inspections of project
Leads all efforts of crew work for the day’s events not limited to driving to site, proper tools, management of materials
Experience required in landscape construction and/or erosion control (seeding, straw blowing, matting, filter sock & silt fence)
Spots trucks or trailers on site
Completes slope, rough and fine grading activities as necessary
Familiarity with off road equipment a plus
Must be able to place and grade topsoil and aggregate
Incorporate erosion control into the work in a timely manner and stabilize disturbed areas with mulch/seed or vegetative cover
Ability to supervise subcontractors for performance and safety
Checks equipment and performs various maintenance
Experience with environmental oversight and DHEC/DNR a plus
Experience in crew operations and management is a plus
Read, understand, manage, mark and record quantities where work is performed
Able to use a variety of hand tools (shovels, picks, staples, post hole digger and tamp) requiring upper body forces of 40lbs
Able to lift up to 80 lbs, bend, and squat and perform frequent cross body movements such as climbing, twisting, balancing, stooping, etc.
Current driver’s license and good driving record, CDL a plus
